FOOD IS YOUR BEST MEDICINE

When physician. Bieler had a breakdown some fifty years ago, he healed himself by giving up drugs. He's been practising in California ever since along the lines of Dr. Diet, Dr. Quiet, while not saying a thing about Dr. Merryman. This is the third book of the kind within the year and certainly Dr. Bieler is better qualified than Carlton Fredericks or Adelle Davis. He also, unlike them, does not give any specific recommendations in print and indicates that all therapeutic diets must be tailored to the individual. He is radical enough to dismiss Pasteur's germ theory (germs do not cause disease, they are only a concomitant thereof), traces his own theories to Hippocrates and Sydenham, claims that he has Often seen inoperable tumors disappear through diet, or polio occur in ice cream addicted children. Beyond that he discusses the digestive and endocrine system intensively, and relates nutrition to heart, kidney, weight, children's contagious diseases and many allergies in particular. The usefulness of a book such as this to the self-dosing reader is minimal since he doesn't prescribe in print. As such it is safer than some others.
