CINDERELLA

It's a vapid, limp Cinderella that we see here--invariably in chaste profile--and the cruel stepsisters are chiefly recognizable by the deeper colors of their dress. Most of the framed, full-color scenes are static (even when Cinderella rushes down the stairs, she seems suspended in air); and between the lack of expression and the lack of action, there's virtually no drama. Alongside Marcia Brown's spirited rendering, this is just angel-food cake--sweet, light, and unsustaining.
