A difficult book to report for young adults- so see long report P. 116. Definitely a presentation of the tensions motivating the Negro psychology in the deep south is of vital interest to alert young people. This is a good story as well, the story of a Negro family of considerable standing, of a Negro college and some of its staff, of labor unions, relations of white and black, the human and social issues in a problem that is not wholly economic. There is adventure and romance and three dimensional characterizations.
