YOUNG READERS INDOOR SPORTS STORIES

A collection of stories about the under-a-roof variety of sports- basketball, volley ball, ping pong, gymnastics, hockey, boxing. A few of the plots: a skinny, bespectacled boy proves prowess with the paddle as he cows a sturdier rival over the ping-pong table; Vince, a newcomer to a highschool near his former one, comes to the realization that his basketball rival is not the phony he thought. A bunch of scrubs, six friends, rise to varsity status by practicing hard by themselves on the volley ball courts. Good solid stuff with plenty of actual play by play description, and heartfelt experiences to be relived by rainy day readers. For the already well established Coombs market.
