The short, practical Lenten meditations contained in this volume are obviously the fruit of genuine personal reflection. Based on the liturgy, they can best be used in conjunction with the hearing of daily Mass from Ash Wednesday through Holy Saturday. The author's reflections and scriptural interpretations issue, in each meditation, in practical applications dictated by solid piety and psychological honesty. Mixed motives, ambition, expediency, ""activism"", human respect, spiritual discouragement and ""personal anthropomorphisms"" are some of the typical faults attacked in successive meditations. Often it is the less obvious lesson of the day's liturgy that the author draws upon for consideration.
