Continuing the adventures of French Beaumont- a French Canadian lad who has moved with his family to New England (see Captain of the Ice 1953- a hockey story). Verral brings in a new sport, basketball, and a new problem child, Rocky Rockland. Son of a divorced air-force officer, Rocky has been expelled from the prep-school where he was a star player. But Frenchy, who is himself persuaded to try out for basketball, with his friends persuade Rocky to go to Pineville High. Their influence on him there works wonders- for by helping the team, Rocky helps himself to learn the value of human understanding. Good score.
