1010 SERMONS ILLUSTRATIONS FROM THE BIBLE

Among the many volumes of sermon illustrations from many different sources, how good it is to have one to help preachers sift the material of the Bible itself for the very story needed to make the point. In this collection, Mr. Chas. Wallis has filled a great need. First of all, there is a typical index of difficult categories, such as ""action"", ""age"", ""benevolence"", ""commitment"", ""criticism"",""curiosity"", ""death"", etc. But under each is a series of illustrations introduced by a key phrase so apt that many of them are likely to reappear as sermon titles. Under ""purpose"", for example, we read a brief illustrative paragraph for ""The Forgotten Pitcher"", ""The Master's Mission"", ""Challenging Motivation"", ""The Set Face"", and ""To Rome at Last"", the last speaking of Paul's perseverance. In each of these and other illustrations are seed thoughts which ought to bear fruit a hundred-fold in many pulpits. As a work-book for the preacher's library it does not have an equal of its kind.
