Fiona Ross-Allen, Feeny to everyone else, and sometimes ""Fearless Feeny"" to herself even though lots of times in her offhand manner she's ""scared spitless,"" can hang by her toes. But it's her only outstanding accomplishment. Everyone in her family does more and gets further--and you'll remember her sister Linsey from you Have to Draw the Line Somewhere (1965). Somehow it doesn't matter, any more than the fact that this most casual of chronicles doesn't have any particular story since you'll enjoy all its moments--whether it's the time when she stole a dollar from her grandmother and ""tucked (her) guilt up inside, like a shabby cuff"" or was in a school play and wasn't able to kiss a boy (the measure of ""artistic achievement""); or somehow didn't manage to do very well in school but was useful cleaning up the kitchen at home; etc., etc., etc. Well, as Feeny says. ""This is how it was"" and it's just right as it is.
