AN ALPHABET OF ANIMALS

Not since Fall's The ABC Book (1923) has there been such a stunningly bold animal-alphabet: large, square wood engravings of great strength and simplicity, with bright, luminously delicate color added. Opposing pages give the names of the animals, plus the letters in elegant, huge type. A clever touch: the whole is twice reiterated with letters only (cap and lc), on double spreads, front and back. A beautifully designed, quintessential animal ABC.
