Over the hill with Fanny and less concerned with the 17th century colonization of St. Kitts and Antigua than with fornication among the palm fronds, and other pursuits such as floggings and torture. Tom Warner, Captain of the Tower and friend of Ralegh, finds it prudent to escape to this far clime, so with his son Edward and others he founds an English colony within the Carib nation. The action, violent most of the time, is framed by the arrival and departures of ships, friendly or on the attack -- English, French, Spanish and canoes-full of Caribs. Finally Tom, now Governor, cedes Antigua to Edward, who by this time has married the Frenchwoman Aline, who is carried off to be tortured, etc. A rescue and the death of Tom end it all. Some mangled history along with the hoisting of sails and skirts.
