Another light sports adventure by the author of Key Log (1953, p. 71) the Magic Bat (1954, p. 118) etc. takes Dartmouth for its setting, freshman Steve Butler for its hero and skiing the skill for which he must fully qualify. Having earned a reputation as something of a skier in high school, Steve goes to college with a feather in his cap already. But he goes too with the animosity of Bates, a resentful sophomore with a long history of grade and high school rivalry with Steve. Ski and temperament-wise, the year proves testy, until Bates, basically unstable, testifies against himself in an honest recognition of his own shortcoming. Swift turns and slaloms here.
