MALAY CANOE

The different racial backgrounds of three boys living on Malaya have little to do with their common dream. Kitchie, a Malayan, Richard, a European, and Wong, a Chinese, long for a canoe. Richard and Kitchie attempt to build one, but it never materializes. Then Wong finds an abandoned canoe and the boys set out for the gem-like islands off the mainland. The canoe fails them and they are stranded - captives of a criminal. Ingenuity turns the tables and the Chinese merchants of Malaya reward each boy with a shiny new canoe. The hackneyed desperado bit detracts considerably from the picture of friendship within this little trio.
