A Golden collection of stories from S.&S. favorites with a variety of subjects, authors and illustrators. All sorts of animals and a few machines have entertaining adventures, and the level of writing is generally high. Among the authors -- the Jackson, Jane Werner, Jack Bechdolt, Robert Garfield and Joan Hubbard. Unfortunately the artists' contributions do not come out too well due to the pale colors in the reproductions. Battaglia, Scarry, DeWitt, Gergely, Miller, and Martin are among the casualties. Nonetheless, a useful bed time and story time collection, always in demand.
