The family Murphy returns once again as Collette, who had hoped for a terrific sixth grade with her pals, is dragged off with the rest of her kin to Put-In-Bay Island for four months when her father is relocated temporarily for business reasons. Collotte does want to be with her family, but the attitude of islanders toward ""tourons"" (part tourist, part moron) bothers her, while her entrance into the small island school is not smoothed by Brian, an older boy who takes the Murphys under his wing but seems aloof in school. Still, when Collette's sister is injured, it's Brian who orchestrates her removal to the mainland for surgery, paving the way for reconciliation all around. Again, the Murphy family's antics sustain the story with a boisterous, noisy brand of love. Cheerful, easy fun.
