THE LONELY HUNTER

Policeman Hastings, with a record of marital and material failure (he'd left his wife eight years ago) is asked to look up his daughter Claudia -- missing in the Haight Ashbury hippiedrome. First he has to deal with a murder, actually three, all mainlining into the drug scene. A reconnaissance through by now familiar territory but sufficiently well written to make it a good bad trip.
