RIG FOR DEPTH CHARGES:

A vigorous and absorbing career book about our submarine service. Rodney -- nicknamed ""Saint"", young Lieutenant on the Arizoom, sees his adored ship sunk during the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. He puts in a request for submarine duty as the quickest opportunity for revenge, and is assigned to the base at New London for training. Then active service -- as convoy duty is followed by action off Guadalcanal, where Rodney's bravery and skill in repairing a shell hole while the submarine is submerged ves the ship and the crew and earns him his Silver Star. A good deal of technical detail, simple, incisive plot, pleasant romantic trimmings.
