The author -- himself committed to a cabin cruiser -- gives the measuring rods by which to arrive at a decision as to what to buy -- in the class, approximately, of a 35' boat, which can go places. He suggests starting which the purchase of a good used boat, he discusses matters of construction, beam, hull design, rigging, living accommodations, power (whether motor or sail). He then goes on to outfitting for cruising, coastwise cruising requirements, simple basic instructions -- for the power boat man -- on sailing, the elementary principles of cruising -- and how to plan for ""going foreign"". The final section treats of safety advice. Defined market.
