SKELETON CAVE

The Alabama Appalachians background a worthy but thin story about a farmer boy, Davey, a cave, and some Indian relics. Davey's suspicious mother forbids him to go in the cave because he has seen a skeleton there. His Grandpa however, takes sides with him by putting him on the track of a relic collection contest which sends Davey to anthropologists in Birmingham who establish the cave's true value and reward Davey accordingly. Paul Galdone's drawings add zest where the narrative lacks it. Reminiscent echoes here.
