WHOMSOEVER I SHALL KISS

A rather suspenseful piece involving, first and foremost, young Royal Ludovici, who, practiced in the ways of rascaldom, goes to Europe at the request of a relative next in line to find out whether Ethel Hennessey, widow of an heir, is living. He finds her under an assumed name, as the sister of a celebrated brain surgeon who has brought her back to life physically after an attempted suicide. It's up to Royal to awaken her otherwise, and in the process, he finds he loves her. Originally planning to marry her for her money, he marries for love and has her officially claimed dead so that the relative gets the inheritance. Ethel, unaware of this, suspects him of wanting to kill her and with the natives fears his Evil Eye. But after a hunting trip in which she expresses her fear, they come to an understanding and all turns out well. The equivocal character of Royal lends tension here, for one fully expects a double doublecross. The suspense, the character of Dr. LeRoux, and other elements, make this a tangy if not altogether credible concoction, superior to the general run.
