Bishop shifts from Little League back to football in this High School football story. As is usual in most of his stories, psychological problems come in for as much concentration as athletics. And again- as in one or more earlier books- part of the problem involves too close a relationship between brothers. Jack Milner had been a star player; Jim wrongly assumed that it was a football injury that caused his paralysis, and was constantly held back in his own playing by a scarcely defined fear. How Coach Henry handles this to make a real star out of Jim combines- in fair balance- the human equation and a budding romance with sound football.
