AB CARMODY'S TREASURE

Easy writing and an interesting locale (Guatemala) makes this a humdinger of an adventure yarn for the 12 and up group. Ab Carmody, American with Guatemalan ancestry, orphaned when his aviator father crashes, decides to seek out his almost legendary great- grandfather, reputedly very wealthy. He finds him in a small Guatemalan town, practically a prisoner in the hands of an evil grand-nephew, determined to eliminate any other surviving relatives. The chase involves escape through joining a picturesque little circus troupe, and a cliffside fight in which the villain meets his doom. A good crackling story with plenty of local color.
