The first volume of Runyon's poems to be published since 1912, this selection was begun with Runyon's help, finished after his death. Rough, virile, and at times sentimental, these poems concern the people with whom Runyon associated, infantrymen, gamblers, beachcombers and soldiers of fortune,- are transcribed in their dialect. Down to earth enjoyment for Runyon's followers although his poetry will not have as extensive a market as his prose.
