THE ROAD TO GLORY

Based on Father Junipero Serra's work in California, this follows bastard Hugo Oconor after his banishment from Mexico when sent to California to prove that Serra's missions are jeopardizing settlers' rights. Hugo's travels, upsets with smugglers, a love affair with Marica, and, finally, his friendship with Serra which convinces Hugo of the goodness of his work- give a pleasant pace to adventuring.
