by David T. Austern ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 7, 1987
A concise manual that explains the criminal justice system, third-party litigation, child and spouse abuse, sexual assault and what to do about it all. The author, a lawyer, teacher and victim advocate, also provides helpful resource information. America's crime bill is $100 billion a year in lost assets and enforcement costs. That plus the trials and tribulations of the victims, rouses one's ire. The author understands the distrust and disillusionment the public has toward the system, and although there have been improvements, it is clear that the victim still gets short shrift compared to the criminal. However, his explanations of what to expect, what to do and how to insure that your rights are preserved will be of inestimable help to many. Not a comfort, but very useful.
