A high-rolling action number about an attempt to take the take on a big day at the Century Oaks track -- one race alone will have a 400,000 dollar purse. Hopefully faster than the nags are Annie and Edgar Garrison (a nice couple by the way -- almost justified in their criminal intentions by the fact that Edgar lost his wife, and his stable to a fire years before) but they've got some not too worthy hired helpers including a killer with a submachine gun. Then there's the sick stable boy Danny Foxen who's a confirmed pyromaniac (see above), and track manager Killigan -- given a hard time not only by someone who's forging tickets but by the desirable, dissolute woman who hardly lets him get out of the sack. . . . It all obviously moves (from the tote board to some larger screen?) and offsets all those cheap and conscienceless grabs with a nice romance.
