LE PETIT CHIEN

Un tout petit livre contains the story of Le Petit Chien told first in French, then in English. A member of a canine family of ten, our resourceful little hero is ridiculed and persecuted when his nine brothers take advantage of his size. Yet it is precisely his build that allows him to crawl under the garden gate to retrieve the largest bone ever, and when danger strikes in the form of a serpent, it is again his miniature size which helps vanquish the enemy. Despite the simplicity of text and pictures, we recommend this for third and fourth graders who are partaking of the recent foreign language programs introduced in the elementary grades. The English translation provides a neat check for those able to forge ahead.
