This is an admiring but objective biography of a well beloved Jesuit of the far west, Father David Plante McAstocker (1883-1951). The style is lively and interesting. It is the story, sensitively told, of a man who seemed constantly on the verge of death, but whose writings and priestly labors seem almost to have belied his ill health. This book will appeal mainly to Jesuits and to those who either knew or have heard a great deal about Father McAstocker.
