ARTHUR RACKHAM: His Life and Work

Derek Hudson makes no attempt here to reconstruct a life or milieu or raise any of the questions commonly probed in serious biographies; rather this is in his own words a ""memorial volume,"" supplementing a spare chronology with a nephew's reminiscences, letters from authors, editors and fans, descriptions and appreciations of Rackham's various illustrations, and a number of color reproductions. Hudson avoids the insipid fawning tone that is the pitfall of the genre, and the appended list of works containing illustrations by Rackham or material about him will be welcome to collectors and admirers.
