HATTIE BE QUIET, HATTIE BE GOOD

Last year's Hattie Rabbit discovers here that good deeds aren't always appreciated--though she tries to please her mother by sitting quietly for an hour and, in the next episode, tries to perk up her friend Shirley Rabbit who is sick in bed. Then the doctor visits Shirley and prescribes ice cream, and Hattie, no longer so selfless, climbs in beside her friend and pretends to be sick too. But of course Shirley's mother offers Hattie some ice cream just for visiting--providing justice of sorts, with a small scoop of wry recognition for readers whose similar good intentions might have gone unrewarded.
