A bald-faced exhortation, without a proper fable's embodiment in action, in which a Voice urges Little Bug to leave his safe but dark and dreary hole despite his fears of being pecked by birds, squashed by a sneaker, or trapped in a jelly jar. The bird obeys, feels wind and water and tastes a flower, establishes a home with a female bug, and is commended for ""spunk"" in a second visitation from the Voice--because, despite the continuing dangers, he will ""never!"" return to the hole. The moral of the project might be that a hackneyed sermon for spunk is as dreary as an exhortation to obedience and conformity.
