JOHNNY-ON-THE-SPOT

More mystery adventure (see The Narrow Ledge of Fear. 1953 P. 118) is set in the present day Caribbean as orphaned 15-year old Johnny Garrett, haunting the Philadelphia waterfront, suddenly finds himself in the company of dashing Stormy Brenner. Befriended and rescued by Stormy in a fight, Johnny is thrilled to be taken aboard his fancy yacht and hired to sail south. But there are other things. They sail in the dead of night with an unmentioned cargo. Stormy himself is a rich man who has taken to the sea from boredom. Down to Trinidad and back to the Virgin Islands they sail-plot and action thickening until at Charlotte Amalie Johnny realizes the truth about Stormy- that he is smuggling dope for thrills. In spite of his hero worship, he helps the authorities get their man. Fast.
