MAKERS OF LATIN AMERICA

The author previously did The Three Worlds of Latin America (1963), which was an excellent survey of the history of the Latin American countries. This is intended as a companion volume to that book, and it will be extremely helpful in clarifying the personality-dominated development of the whole area. The organization follows a country-by-country breakdown, with short biographical sketches of the men who most influenced the trend of affairs in his nation after independence. The information is well-selected and succinctly presented, and the pair present an extremely good overall introduction to Latin America.
