The author previously did The Three Worlds of Latin America (1963), which was an excellent survey of the history of the Latin American countries. This is intended as a companion volume to that book, and it will be extremely helpful in clarifying the personality-dominated development of the whole area. The information is well-selected and succinctly presented, and the pair present an extremely good overall introduction to Latin America.
