BEST SPORTS STORIES- 1954

Hundreds of sports writers write thousands of stories for the press and magazines about every sport under the sun- and moon, and here again our editing team pick the winners. One might differ with their choice of the best news story- Dark Star's victory over Native Dancer- and select instead Purdue's upset of Michigan State or Yale's victory over Princeton, ""best"" stories too. (It might just be a matter of bias!). Again the best magazine story could be the story of August Bush on Cornelius Vanderbilt but they selected another honey, the story of the prize fighter, Billy Graham. Again, they are all ""prize"" stories. In fact any sports fan reader will get immense entertainment and enjoyment whether he reads about baseball, football, racing, boxing, golf, tennis, or what have you. Sportswriters seem to mellow with age.
