A HAPPY TALE

Following the pattern--and, indeed, many of the events--of Charlip's popular Fortunately (1964), the talented New Zealander recounts the adventures of Mabel, who's trying to join Charles at the other side of her island. The winning formula of good luck comically alternating with bad is nicely extended in Hurford's playful illustrations.
