THE HANGMAN'S TREE

Not as dynamic as last year's Explosion, but an excellent job of suspense and atmosphere for murders attendant on the Azalea Festival in Charleston, North Carolina... Northern Dr. Victoria Grant becomes involved in the affairs and history of the Fairlee family when a would be contestant for Queen of the Festival is killed and the Fairlees are spot-lighted in the ensuing investigation. Dr. Grant's loyalty is tried with a second death but backtracking and the proof of an earlier murder straightens out all worrisome knots, provides a suitable ending. Good going.
