RUFUS

Rufus, a fox who escapes, is the companionable, enterprising type we wouldn't mind having for a friend, despite his faults. When he boasts to his pals, Washy the Raccoon and Skunky the Skunk, about some nice chickens to be had at a nearby farm, he finds he must eat his words and suffer some harrowing, if temporary, experiences. At the farm, where his , Tally-ho the hound, lives, Rufus is caught in a coop. Then the farmer sells both Tally-ho and Rufus to a hunt -- Rufus as prey and Tally-ho as part of the pursuing pack. In strange territory, Rufus has his troubles escaping but the outcome in happy and humorous. The author's dry wit and her husband's drawings together are quite a treat.
