THE LONG HIKE

Small cousins, Dorothy and Bill are in the country for the summer, and the country air makes them eternally hungry. The place is just a bit too far from the lake, so one day they start out on a hike, with a picnic basket. They stop here and there along the way, to see this and do that. And with each stop the picnic basket is lightened so they can run more quickly back home again to be in time for lunch! Light leaf green drawings by the author flavor this morning's eating.
