CHUKCHI HUNTER

North meets South, as Ankat, a Chukchi boy who lives near the top of the world on the eastern tip of Siberia, meets a Russian trader who brings new ideas and new devices to the sea-hunters who have lived their own culture for unknown years. Ankat is a brave loyal boy that any boy would like as a friend. He and his father are determined to have the outboard which some of their tribesmen approve and which others regard as evil. Adventures follow one another with satisfying speed, and Ankat at last joins the grown men in an exciting walrus hunt. Good story, well told; a rewarding action and background book for that difficult age level.
