Dr. Clark was the Lady with a Spear of a few years ago and this is another personable plunge into the wondrous World of the ichthyologist. ""Genie,"" backed by the Vanderbilts, founded and directed the Cape Haze Marine Laboratory, a basic research plant specializing in sharks. Along with the operational and scientific details, Genie enthusiastically describes adventures in and out of the Florida flotsam -- riding giant turtles, getting towed out to sea by an enormous manta ray, helping to discover the remains of what might be the oldest human in our hemisphere in an underwater cavern. In the meantime she is also busy bringing up her four children, encouraging the crowds of young marine enthusiasts, coping with trespassers (she found one four year old happily cooling his heels in the shark pool). Her laboratory devised new learning techniques to determine sharks' intelligence, helped in cancer research and came up with exciting discoveries in many areas of marine research. It's stimulating, edifying and fun.
