Protesting against the misinterpretation and misapplication of psychology, suggesting that there are no ironclad rules to individual problems, Dr. Bruch -- a pediatrician and psychiatrist of considerable experience- restores a healthier perspective in an attempt to create a home situation in which both the mother and the child are comfortable. Her discussion ranges from theoretical considerations- of what is meant by ""love""- to the dilemma of free choice, to the more direct aspects of childbearing and rearing- natural childbirth and roaming in, feeding and training problems, education- academic as well as social, sex, etc. And is so doing, she scores the oversimplification and stereotypes of vogues and progressive patterns which have ended in confusion for both parent and child.
