This is not wholly devoted to that much neglected subject of arranging flowers for the sanctuary. There is at least half the space devoted to the comparable problems of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish places of worship; of the demands of the architectural setting, whether Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, Colonial or Modern; of the interiors, turgically and artistically considered; of the organization of altar guide and flower committee. (Both authors have served in these capacities). Then the available flowers, arranged by color and by season, make selection for the proper colors of vestments, frontals, etc., practical and easy. A short course on basic principles, mechanics and techniques, and the variants demanded by the specific application here; equipment and containers; arrangements for special occasions; actual procedures -- these complete a rounded study, essential for church libraries and guild members.
