BIG BEN

A story it is well to have told -- a problem story of racial prejudice. Paul Robeson, famous Negro singer, once famous football player, supplied the factual background for this fictionized record of a Negro boy at a white university, with all the attendant problems. Extremely well done, a good story with sound psychological implications, a difficult problem handled with realism, understanding, sympathy -- and no sentimentality. It starts with the day the scholarship arrived -- and ends with his first concert.
