Announcing a new title in the P-H Junior Research Series: Dr. King is one of the more controversial characters on the current scene, and this biography is unreserved in admiration for him. It is, however, an honest portrait--most of the incidents and conversation appear to have been gathered from reliable sources. Without going into the subtleties of the problems facing the South, the Martin Kings, Jrs and Srs, are shown in their early years with reference to the way they were affected by growing up in a biased community. The philosophy of non-violence is touched upon and the steps in Dr. King's crusade are traced through the march on Washington. While this book naturally lacks perspective, it will help somewhat to clarify the confusion of events appearing currently in the news.
