LEARNING TO SERVE

An instruction book for new altar boys, accompanied by a Learning to Serve Teacher's Manual ($.50 extra), this volume contains 25 short, lively, graduated lessons, covering character ideals, rubrics and Latin responses, presented in such a way as to make the new altar boy take an active interest and pride in his service. It is unfortunate that while the author was about the matter of taking the function of being an altar boy very seriously, he did not give the Latin spelling (in addition to the ""phonetical"" spelling) of the responses and an English translation for all the responses. In all other respects, this manual is pedagogically sound and should prove very valuable in the eyes of those to whom the training of new altar boys is entrusted.
