HIGH-WATER CARGO

The story of Direk Van Ardalen nicknamed Tinker because of his cleverness with his hands. But Direk at sixteen wished to be an engineer and study at Rutgers. How he obtained the tuition money by catching a jewel thief who was operating on one of the canal coal barges is the theme of this historical novel set in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1875. Authentic atmosphere, although the mystery-and-chase plot is only fair cops-and-robbers.
