NORTH AFRICAN POWDER KEG

Social studies- civics- government, whatever it is called, includes some focus on current events. There is no more difficult issue today for the average American than the confusing picture in North Africa. This helps clarify some of the elements:- the French administration, electoral frauds, guerilla activity, Tunisian Home Rule, the good start made in Libya- and the stake of the West in the area. Stevens, Rome correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor, feels we cannot risk waiting for France to endanger the region as they did in Indo China.
