LARRY SCOTT OF THE SUN

An excellent combination of adventure made credible and sound newspaper background, in the story of a senior in High School who gets a job on the newspaper in Hill City, Pennsylvania, and gets a reputation of being a good reporter. He helps solve a kidnapping case and is sent for by one of the big wire services to come to Philadelphia, then -- after a training period .. is sent from New York on a special mission, flying to China to get Chennault's story of the training of Chinese fighter pilots. From there he goes to Manila, and after December 7th, 1941, on to Bataan, finally to Australia and home, to go into the army. Fast moving story, spiced with humor and a dash of romance; an accurate picture of the inner workings of a small town newspaper, of a large wire service, and of the dangers and excitement of a war correspondent's job at the front.
