Merle Armitage has produced a handsome collection of dance material, from personality sketches, anecdotes and biography, to an album of ballet, modern dancers, and a gallery of reproductions of statuary, drawings, etc., of ancient dance, of dance in abstract art, of decor and costumes. It makes an interesting contrast of old and new forms, of the rejuvenation of the medium, and the modern revolutions. The special section on persons deals with Duncan, Diaghileff, Nijinsky, Stravinsky, Pavlova, St. Denis & Shawn, with estimates by the author. 250 reproductions, from many collections and sources, this should have a distinct place in the art book field.
