I MUST SAY: On English, the News, and Other Matters

More than 150 reprinted syndicated newspaper columns by the popular TV-and-print commentator. Newman's purview is as More than 150 reprinted syndicated newspaper columns by the wide--culture, medicine, sports, politics, and, of course, the degeneration of the English language--as his tolerance for foolery is narrow; using mostly humor, but sometimes sentiment, he holds up for scrutiny a host of pet peeves--which range from the tyranny of in-flight movies and polls to the overweight of the federal budget deficit and the nation's need for a poet laureate. At times, Newman's pomposity obscures his judgment--e.g., his knee-jerk condemnation of rock-and-roll and Stallone films; but, most often, his highly moral wit hits the mark. A sure pleaser for Newman admirers.
