Kemmerer has had a long and somewhat checkered career in prophesy concerning money. His record has sometimes been that of the prophet without honor; sometimes his followers have accepted his verdicts -- and found him wrong; but, in the main, he is possibly our leading authority on ""money"" and what he writes demands close attention and thoughtful consideration. His position, indicated here, is the acceptance of the fact that inflation is here, that its progress is not being sufficiently checked and that broader understanding of cause and effect on the part of the public is needed if effective methods are to be carried through by the government. This book is not so much a book of prophecy as a primer of fact, a weighing of various methods, and a sound, balanced summing up of Kemmerer's own contribution to the solution. Bibliography and index make this a good reference book for the average citizen.
